In Chinese culture, a cherished tradition for weddings is the giving of a hongbao (red packet), also known as lai see or 'lucky money.' The hongbao is a red envelope containing a monetary gift, symbolizing good luck, happiness, and blessings for the couple’s future together. The color red is particularly significant, representing joy and prosperity. This tradition is a heartfelt way for guests to share their well-wishes during this special occasion. While your presence is the greatest gift of all, for those who wish to participate in this custom, we invite you to contribute to our wishing well in the spirit of this beautiful tradition.

Our Love in Concert
It all began on a memorable Wednesday afternoon, 23rd August 2017, at a Wesley Lunchtime Live Concert featuring Aaron's mentor, Emeritus Professor Larry Sitsky. Aaron, known for his quiet habit of sitting at the back of concerts, was struck by the sight of a girl with flowing black hair sitting near the front. In that moment, something stirred within him.
Though a mutual music lecturer facilitated the introduction after the concert, Aaron couldn’t deny he had been eagerly anticipating the chance to meet Sheena. Sheena, dressed charmingly in a Snoopy jumper and white bon bon boots, greeted him with a shy but sweet smile. Aaron’s nerves might not have left the best first impression, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that he had just met someone truly special.
Their next encounter was at a piano seminar class—a setting usually reserved for undergraduates, making Aaron’s presence there all the more unusual for a PhD student. That day, he performed Chopin's Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48. Spotting Sheena in the audience, he resolved to speak with her after his performance. Yet once again, fate had other plans—Sheena dashed off the moment the class ended, leaving Aaron to wonder if he would ever get another chance.
Months later, when Sheena’s name appeared as a suggested friend on Aaron’s Facebook, he seized what felt like his last opportunity. This time, everything clicked, and a beautiful connection began to blossom.

A Perfect Cadence
Over the years, their relationship has grown through love, laughter, and resilience. Sheena has been Aaron’s unwavering support, standing by him throughout his PhD journey, cheering him on through the highs and lifting him during the challenges. In return, Aaron has been Sheena’s bedrock—her calm in the storm, lending an ear through difficult times and offering strength whenever it was needed. Together, they have built a bond rooted in love, understanding, and unwavering trust.
Now, eight years later, on 23rd August 2025, they come together to celebrate not just their love, but the incredible journey that brought them here. What an unforgettable adventure it has been—and the best is yet to come.
